How it works
- Choose Washington, the county or service area, the published rate schedule, and the CARE classification from the official table.
- The daily rate is the DSHS base daily rate for that classification and area.
- If Enhanced Community Services (ECS) is selected, the estimate uses the greater of the ECS daily rate or the base daily rate.
- If Community Integration (CI) is selected, the published CI daily amount is added.
- Monthly revenue uses a 30-day planning month. Annual revenue is daily rate × 365, or monthly × 12 when you enter a resident count.
- Number of Medicaid residents scales daily, monthly, and annual revenue.
Example using published Washington rates
A King County home with one resident classified as B High on the July 1, 2026 schedule uses the published high-cost B High daily rate. Monthly and annual figures are planning estimates (30-day month and 365-day year) and must be verified against the current DSHS schedule before any financial decision.

- Classification comes from an official CARE assessment, not from this tool.

Which Washington counties use high-cost rates?
King, Pierce, and Snohomish are high-cost counties in the published table. All other Washington counties use the standard schedule.
What is a CARE classification?
Washington uses CARE classifications such as A Low through E High to describe assessed care needs. An official assessment determines the applicable classification. This calculator does not assess residents.
What is the Community Integration add-on?
When Community Integration applies, the published daily CI amount is added to the base daily rate in this estimate. Confirm whether the service actually applies for the resident.
How does ECS work in this estimate?
Enhanced Community Services uses the greater of the ECS daily rate or the applicable base daily rate, matching the published contract language. It is not stacked on top of the base rate.
Can I use this for another state?
