AFH Bed Revenue Calculator
Estimate occupied beds and gross revenue from licensed beds, occupancy, and average monthly rate. Results are gross revenue, not profit.
These calculators provide estimates for planning purposes only. Actual costs, reimbursement rates, taxes, staffing requirements, licensing requirements, and profitability can vary by location and individual circumstances. This tool is not financial, legal, tax, licensing, or medical advice. Results are based on entered assumptions.
How it works
- Occupied beds are licensed beds × occupancy percentage.
- Monthly gross revenue is occupied beds × average monthly rate.
- Annual gross revenue is monthly gross revenue × 12.
- One additional occupied bed uses the average monthly rate you entered as additional gross monthly revenue.
Example using the default assumptions
Six licensed beds at 85% occupancy is 5.1 occupied beds. At $6,500 per resident, estimated monthly gross revenue is $33,150. One additional occupied bed would represent about $6,500 in additional gross monthly revenue at that rate.
Important assumptions
- This is gross revenue, not profit.
- Occupancy is applied evenly.
- One additional bed cannot exceed remaining licensed capacity in a real home; the illustration uses your entered rate only.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as the revenue calculator?
It is a simpler bed-focused view, including a one-additional-bed illustration. The revenue calculator also includes occupancy scenarios.
Is additional bed revenue profit?
No. Staffing, food, and other costs can rise when a bed is filled.
Can occupancy be 0%?
Yes. Occupied beds and revenue will be 0.
What if occupancy is 100%?
Occupied beds equal licensed beds. The additional-bed note is still an illustration at the entered rate, not extra licensed capacity.
Should I use a blended Medicaid and private-pay rate?
If that is how you plan collections, yes. Or run the Medicaid rate calculator and enter a weighted average.
Does this include vacancy loss?
Not directly. Use the vacancy calculator for empty-bed gross revenue.
